You forgot [ComPath] is my guess. I also had this problem, I also use DR
DOS and I also fixed it in the same way. I'd dearly love to know why so
much stuff from Gravis just doesn't work right under DR DOS...
Re: AIL drivers
UltraMID will take a very long time to load if you use the -c switch 'cause
it's loading up to 1MB of patches into the GUS...As I don't have Dune I
can't say what might be the problem...

Yesterday again a question about ultrasnd.ini file and where to find
find which patch. I had this problem too some time ago and some other
person also asked a question about it.
So here is a short explanation about which file is used for which
player.
WINDOWS:
Uses ultrasnd.ini (located on the ULTRASND directory if you
installed everything standard way)
I am not sure but i THINK this file is read at startup time,
which means that changes wont take effect while in windows.
PLAYMIDI:
Uses 'default.cfg' in the \ULTRASND\MIDI directory
It first tries to read the file <midifilename>.cfg and does
that on all directories from the current PATH. This last
'feature' can cause unexpected problems if there is a xxxx.cfg
file floating around somewhere and you have a xxxx.mid file
which you want to play with PLAYMIDI.
I hope the above information is correct and clarifies the method for
everybody.

For what it's worth, I've had alot of trouble with this program. While I
like the graphics and such, it tends to lock up. Interestingly enough,
hitting Shift Lock a few times tends to unlock it! Although it's also hung
my system at times...:-(

AFTER we get an OS/2 driver, I hope! I've had OS/2 2.1 now for a couple
months with a noticable lack of sound from my GUS. If an NT driver comes
out before the OS/2 driver, I'd be sorely tempted to ship the GUS back to
Gravis and get a soundcard froma company that will support my OS of choice.
And yes, this is a hot button for a number of people...

I am missing something here. I've been running GUS in DOS mode
and things have been dandy with SBOS 2.04.
I decided to become dangerous and I loaded the drivers to run
sound from windows. I am getting sound, but also lots of screeches.
When I choose one .wav file to play, it plays it, then it goes on
an plays all the other .wav files.
Do I need an update? Is my Port configuration wrong?
Thanks for any info.

Definitely NOT. ULTRAMID and SBOS don't mix.

Ditto here, seems to be a bug in the program.

That is because you are looking in the wrong place. The correct file
is in the MIDI directory, default.cfg. For those of you who do not know this
yet, the file tremstr.pat is located in gus0034.zip.

Grab syn-gus.zip from one of the ftp sites and run it with SBOS
without any switches. Or you can edit the batch file so that everything
after main.exe is deleted.
Happy GUShing.
